For a project titled  ‘Advanced organic-inorganic  hybrid materials with POSS: from nano-sizes to macro-architectures’ funded by the Polish National Centre of Science, Cracow University of Technology, Department of Chemistry and Technology of Polymers, seeks two laboratory assistants (students).

Candidates should have secondary education degree in the area of chemistry or should be University students of polymer chemistry, polymer technology or material sciences, or a related field. You will be expected to help post-docs and Ph.D. students in laboratory works in the area of polymer nanomaterials. We are looking for an adaptable and hard-working assistants with some initial experience in synthesis and characterization of polymer nanomaterials. Knowledge in advanced data analysis methods is appreciated. Previous experience on hybrid nanomaterials would be beneficial.

We offer a competitive contract for a specified task at the Cracow University of Technology for six months in a stimulating interdisciplinary research environment in the field of polymer nanomaterials and fascinating scientific possibilities at an international state of the art research facility. Working language is Polish or English. The Cracow University of Technology is an inclusive, equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from disabled persons and women.

The research projects will focus on the synthesis and characterization of novel polyurethane materials reinforced by POSS. The candidate will be supporting research in the area of preparation, optimization of the composition and further characterization by physicochemical methods (WAXD, SEM, TEM, FTIR, TG, DSC, DMA) of a novel class of polymer nanohybrid materials based on foamed polyurethane and polyhedral silsesquioxanes (POSS).
