One Research Fellowship for one Postdoctoral fellowship is opened at under the scope of the LAQV/NOVA.ID.FCT – Associação para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento da FCT (LAQV/QUI/50006), with the internal reference “LAQV/BPD/010/2017”, which is financed by national funds from FCT/MECTS (UID/QUI/50006) and co-financed by the ERDF under the PT2020 Partnership Agreement (POCI-01-0145-FEDER – 007265), at the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

1. Scientific area: Organic Chemistry.

2. Admission Requirements: PhD degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemistry or similar Chemistry, with preference given to candidates with an experience with organic synthesis and synthesis of catalysts and experimental work with reactions and separation. Good experience with organic synthesis, characterisation and application of metal coordination compounds and homogeneous catalysis. Experience with supercritical fluids will be valued. A good knowledge of the English language is essential.

3. Work Plan: 1) preparation of homogeneous catalysts, 2) carrying out hydrogenation reactions of biogenic acids under high pressure conditions, 3) separation of reaction products, 4) optimization of the reaction conditions in order to obtain the desired biofuels.

5. Working location and superviror: The work is to be carried out at the UCIBIO-Requimte Research Unit at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (FCTNOVA),
under the scientific supervision of Dr Ewa Lukasik.

6. Fellowship duration: The fellowship is for 6 months, eventually renewable, and is due to start on the May 2017, according to the Regulations for Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. – 2013.

7. Monthly maintenance allowance: The monthly maintenance allowance is €1.495, according to the table of values for the grants awarded directly by FCT in Portugal (http:// www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores), and its payment shall be made monthly by bank transfer.

8. Selection methodology:
8.1 Conditions of admission
Applicants who meet the listed requirements are considered for selection process.
8.2 Curriculum evaluation
The selection process is made according to the following criteria:
A. The suitability of the curriculum to the project to be developed – 40%
B. The suitability of the work carried out in organic chemistry to the project to be developed – 60%
C. In case of necessity, an interview will be conducted with the 3 best candidates
8.3 The final mark will be based on:
A. Curriculum evaluation: 20%
B. The suitability of the work carried out in organic chemistry to the project to be developed – 30%
C. Interview – 50%

9. Jury members: President of the Jury: Dr Ewa Lukasik; Effective jury members: Prof. Manuel Nunes da Ponte and Dr. Luís Branco; Substitute jury members: Dr. Ana Nunes and Dr. José António Lopes.

10. Notification of Results: The results will be publicized trough the display of ranking list in a public, visible place at the Chemistry Department. All candidates will be informed of the final results via e-mail.
